Introduction

A key component of the Civil Engineering Program at BCIT is the completion of a major individual industry-sponsored project during the second year. In the fall, each student finds and Industry Sponsor who will provide them with a project concept. The student then prepares a project outline, followed by a formal proposal to be reviewed by an assigned Civil Engineering faculty advisor.

The project work is carried out during the winter term. Deliverables include a progress report, a formal client report, a presentation, and a poster display.

All of this work is included in three mandatory courses taken in the academic year the student is expected to complete the diploma requirements: COMM 3342, COMM 4442 and CIVL 4090.

Poster boards and log books provided by Ian Cormier, Francesca Cusati, Nathan Dickoff and Mitchell Kelder.
